Awkwafina
Awkwafina was an American performer and actor who started her career through innovative raps which addressed gender and ethnic identities from a an edgy, comical perspective. Her career then grew to Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Korean immigrants living in Forest Hills Queens. Her first experience with music came through the instrument of trumpet. The classical, jazz, and hip-hop studies began when she was just a teenager. At college, she was studying the field of women's studies and journalism. She even spent a short time studying Mandarin at the University of Beijing. When she graduated, she started to focus on music. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet hit and was included in her debut album Yellow Ranger. The album also featured viral hit tracks like body positive Queef and winking tour of her home NYC Bitche$1. This latter song was directly tied to Awkwafina's NYC, a 2015 travel guide. She opted to pursue a career as an actor following the completion of her previous two projects, as an author and musician. As well as early shows, such Girl Code and Tawk - she was in films Neighbors 2 Storks & Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed a number of major roles like Dude Ocean's 8, or Crazy Rich Asians. This June, she released her EP "In Fina We Trust".
